Josep Triadó i Mayol

He studied at La Llotja, the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, and was awarded a grant by the Provincial Council to further his studies for a year in Madrid.
He was a pupil of A. Riquer, from whom he learned the technique of etching, but during these early years he concentrated on painting and presented his work at several exhibitions, including at Sala Parés.
He worked at every facet of book-making, from printing to covers, watermark designs, etc. He was one of the most prolific watermark designers, making over 250 in all.
From 1901 he taught at La Llotja while at the same time contributing to publications such as Revista Gràfica, Revista Ibérica, Anuari de les Arts Decoratives, Hispania and El Gato Negro.
He became a prominent person in the Catalan graphic arts world at the turn of the century and achieved international recognition in this field.
