Located in a forest within the municipality of La Pobla de Lillet, this is the least well-known and most isolated of Gaudí’s works. After years of doubt, it has only recently been confirmed as the architect’s work thanks to an investigation commissioned by the Generalitat de Catalunya that has coincided with Gaudí Year.
The chalet refuge was designed as housing for engineers and workers in the coal mines managed by Companyia Asland, a company owned by Gaudí’s patron, Eusebi Güell, who was also the owner of the Clot del Moro cement factory in Castellar de n’Hug.
A scientific study commissioned by the Department of Culture at the Gaudí Chair at the UPC, led by Galdric Santana, has made it clear that the structures and techniques used in its construction prove beyond doubt that Gaudí was the person who designed it.
The building can only currently be seen from the outside.
