Casa Garriga Nogués – Museu de l’Art Prohibit

If we track lowering for the promenade of Catalonia and turn on the right for the street of the Deputation, find another edifice that Sagnier constructed at the same time that the Home Fargas: the HOME GARRIGA NOGUÉS (49) (Deputation, 250), where it is necessary to fix at the mènsules of Eusebius Arnau, that represent the ages of the man, and the glassmakers of the noble plant. From 2023 it will host the Museum of Forbidden Art under the patronage of cultural activist Tatxo Benet.

To visit the Museum of Forbidden Art is to enter the only museum in the world dedicated to exhibiting works that have been banned, censored or attacked. You will find pieces by internationally renowned artists such as Warhol, Picasso, Ai Weiwei, Banksy, Mapplethorpe, Tania Bruguera, Gustav Klimt or Goya, but also the art of Guantanamo prisoners. Because in the Museum of Forbidden Art the works that can be seen are as important as the history that accompanies them.

The museum offers a tour full of diverse contexts that will awaken multiple reflections. And it does so with an inspiring museography full of audiovisual resources that help to deepen the reading of this set of works of art that someone tried that they could not be seen. In each room, worked specifically for the piece it houses, you will discover different approaches, some ironic, and others more critical, that will not leave you indifferent.

For all these reasons, the Museum of Forbidden Art has become a unique cultural space of artistic activation, suitable for all audiences who walk in freedom.



Timetable

Summer schedule (April to October):
Open from Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm.
Closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays).

Winter schedule (November to March):
Open from Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm.
Closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays).
Closed on 25 December and 1 January.

The ticket office closes 30 minutes before the museum.
