The 2025 Barcelona Modernist Fair will have two female protagonists

09-01-2025   Barcelona

The next edition of the Barcelona Modernist Fair, 19th edition, will be held from May 23 to 25, 2025, and will have two female protagonists.

The Fair will be dedicated to Maria Lluïsa Ponsa Bassas (Barcelona 1875 – 1919), composer, pianist and writer, in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of her birth. Ponsa also wrote in the magazines Feminal and Catalana, publications with a strong feminist slant, and won several awards at the Floral Games.

The Fair will also be dedicated to Concepción (Conxita) Badia Millàs, (Barcelona 1897 – 1975), one of the most outstanding sopranos of the 20th century, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of her death. A student of Enric Granados, Pau Casals and Manuel de Falla, she performed in theatres all over the world, and was even Montserrat Caballé’s singing teacher.

We look forward to seeing you at the Trade Fair and Festival, on Bruc Street, between Avenida Diagonal and Consell de Cent Street, the penultimate weekend of May.
