He qualified as an architect in Barcelona in 1889 having been taught by the architect L. Domènech i Montaner, by whom he was influenced. Between 1909 and 1924 he was the municipal architect of Berga. He was also municipal architect in Manresa and Castellbell i el Vilar, where he built the church of La Sagrada Família de la Bauma (1905-1908; Bauma, 171).
His architectural work is limited, as, especially from the 1920s onwards, he devoted himself to art history and archaeology. He obtained a mention from Barcelona City Council for Casa Heribert Pons (1907-1909; Rambla de Catalunya, 19-21), a building with a strong Viennese influence and Modernista decorative elements made by the sculptor E. Arnau.
Together with the architect F. Guàrdia he won a competition to build the Central Market in Valencia.
He was editor of the magazine Arquitectura y Construcción.
