Francesc Rogent i Pedrosa

Barcelona (1861) - (1898)

The son of E. Rogent, he studied at the Barcelona School of Architecture from where he graduated in 1887. He was responsible for the refurbishment of El Cau Ferrat (1893-1894; Fonollar, 8, Sitges), the house cum-workshop of the painter and sculptor S. Rusiñol, which is now a museum dedicated to this artist's work. In Barcelona he designed the bridge between the park and the water tower in La Ciutadella which was built for the 1888 Universal Exhibition. He was employed as a municipal architect in Badalona and was involved in the restoration of Ripoll Monastery. He founded the Parera i Cia. publishing house which, among other things, published his Arquitectura moderna de Barcelona (Modern Barcelona Architecture, 1897), written together with L. Domènech i Montaner, which is regarded as the first guide to architecture in Barcelona.
