Josep Plantada i Artigas

Architect
(1) - Barcelona (1925)

Very little is known about this architect who graduated from the Barcelona School of Architecture in 1902. He built Casa Queraltó (1907; Rambla de Catalunya, 88) in a highly eclectic style containing some features similar to Modernista language. In 1911 he won the prize awarded by Barcelona City Council each year for the best commercial establishment for the Ideal cinema (1911; no longer in existence), whose decoration was completely Modernista. There are other works of his in the same city from a later period that may be considered eclectic, such as a 1912 building in Rambla de Catalunya on the corner of Carrer de Mallorca, and a group of houses in Carrer del Comte de Güell, 3-18 (1913; they once belonged to a workers´ co-operative called El Bienestar Obrero).
