Barcelona (1875) - (1958)
He studied at La Llotja, the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, and devoted himself to portraits and composition. He took part in the Fine Arts Exhibition in Barcelona in 1896 and those held there in subsequent years. He was greatly influenced by Symbolism and the Pre-Raphaelites and produced allegorical, religious and mythological compositions.
In 1902 he exhibited at the Cercle Artístic (Artistic Circle) a series of postcards of the Pyrenees from which he was later to produce illustrations for the publication of a book. Before focusing his professional career more fully on painting, he made a number of art photographs, some of which are in the collection of the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC), in which he captured works belonging to all the pictorial trends of the moment.
He was artistic editor of the magazine Mercurio and the first chairperson of Amics dels Museus (Friends of the Museums).
