General Guitart i Lostaló

Barcelona (1859) - (1926)

He qualified in 1887 and went to work with the architect E. Rogent. He soon began taking part in the works of Casa Provincial de la Maternitat i Expòsits (Provincial Maternity Hospital and Foundlings Home, 1889; Travessera de les Corts, 131-159) alongside the architect C. Oliveras. He became municipal architect of Alella, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Palafrugell, where he built the Armstrong cork factory (1900-1904).
He taught carpentry and furniture making at the Barcelona School of Arts and Crafts, was the secretary of La Llotja - the Barcelona School of Fine Arts - and a member of the Board of Foment de les Arts Decoratives (Promotion of the Decorative Arts - FAD).
